Smart TV Buying Guide: Upgrade Your TV Like a Pro!
You might not believe it, but it is likely time to upgrade your TV. Even if you already have a SmartTV, and especially if you donât, youâll enjoy a better viewing experience with a brand-new SmartTV.
Along with my friends at Courts, Iâll be your guide to help you make a âsmartâ decision when buying a new TV. Together, we'll explore the must-have features, unveil the hidden gems, and find the perfect smart TV that aligns with your preferences and lifestyle.
Better Visuals
Your current TV may seem fine to you, but the picture quality on a new TV will blow you away without breaking the bank. With features like a 4K HDR QLED screen featuring a 120 Hz refresh rate, youâll enjoy stunning visuals with vibrant colours, deeper blacks, and crisp contrast.
This is clearly evident on the LG Nano Cell. Of course, it has a 4K QLED HDR screen. It also has a mind-blowing resolution of 3840Ă2160 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate and ânano colourâ.
All the jargon aside, getting a new TV means you will have a more immersive experience. Gamers, movie lovers, sports fans, and casual viewers will enjoy the enhanced picture quality. You will see every bead of sweat rolling down the athleteâs forehead, every tear rolling down the actressâs face, and every frame of your opponent rolling down the leaderboard without input lag.
Better sound
If there was ever a reason to upgrade, it is for better sound. As Caribbean people, we love our music and our dialogue. We want to hear it clearly, and we want to hear it loudly. Most new TVs boast impressive sound quality.
When buying a new TV, look for perfect sound quality from built-in Dolby ATMOS and at least 20W of power from a multi-speaker system. You deserve room-filling, theatre-quality sound you can feel in your bones as much as you can hear.
Old TV speakers needed space to sound halfway decent. But technology allows ultrathin TVs to deliver outstanding sound quality without taking up much space.
f youâre ready to use your TV to start a sound clash with your neighbour, consider the TCL C series 98-inch TV. It has the requisite 4K QLED, HDR, TV picture quality and features a Dolby ATMOS, 20W stereo speaker system.
You can also boost your TVâs already impressive audio quality with a suitable sound bar.
Okay, maybe youâre not the sound clash type. Maybe, like me, youâre more the âentertain family and friends visiting for a get-together with an online playlist.â Either way, youâre gonna need a bigger sound.
Bigger screen
If youâve got the space, bigger is better for TV screens. Some of us live in one room, some in an apartment, others in a big house. I guarantee you there is a size screen that is perfect for you.
No tape measure? No worries. Use your wingspan as a rough measurement if you know your height; theyâre roughly equal.
For a viewing distance of about 5 feet, the largest recommended screen size is 50 inches. If you have double that space, around 10 feet, treat yourself to an impressive 98-inch screen.
At Courts, they have every size screen from 43 inches to a whopping 98 inches. Seriously, itâs enormous, and I like it.
One of the most beautiful screens that will look positively bespoke in your living room is the Samsung Frame.
Take a look at this beautiful interchangeable frame. When not watching TV, flip on ARTMODE to display reproductions of the worldâs best art, including your own art collection.
And best of all, once on, art mode is triggered by a motion sensor to save your electricity bill when no one is around to savour your art collection,
The screen comes in at 55 inches, making it perfectly suitable for your living room or home office.
The included slim-fit wall mount and one invisible connection cable allow you to hang the frame flush against the wall, like a real work of art. And the anti-reflection with matte display virtually eliminates glare.
Better connectivity.
Of course, for me, the best reason to get a new TV is to get a new SMART TV.
LG, Samsung and TCL each have a line of smart TVs.
You have many choices for smartTV operating systems: LGâs WebOS, Samsungâs TIZEN OS and TCLâs Google TV/ROKU. In all cases, the OS interface is super easy to use; kids and grandparents will have no trouble navigating the TV.
These smartTVs offer features like WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, user-friendly interfaces, popular pre-installed apps like Netflix and Disney+, fully stocked app stores, firmware updates for new features, and multiple HDMI and USB ports.
Google TV even supports Alexa and Google Assistant, with built-in Chromecast support. Using the Chrome browser, you can easily cast images and videos from your Android phone or even from your computer. On the other hand, LGâs WebOS provides AirPlay support, a real treat for iOS users.
Comparison
Each model I mentioned, the LG Nano Cell, the Samsung Frame and the TCL 98, all have the âmust haveâ features. They each have 4K QLED HDR 120Hz for the best picture quality. They each have Dolby ATMOS for the best audio quality. And they all have a robust TV OS, WiFi, Bluetooth and multiple HDMI and USB ports for the best connectivity. All great choices, really.
They are beautiful, with either a bezel-less design or a museum-worthy frame.
They vary in size and price to suit your space and your budget.
Security
You know I am an advocate for smart TVs. Everything good comes with risks, and smart TVs are no exception. Protect your smart TV by enabling security features like password protection and firmware updates to safeguard against potential vulnerabilities.
Upgrade Time
With Courtsâ extensive range of TVs and these tips, youâll be well-equipped to make the right choice. TVs come with a one-year manufacturer warranty but with SupaSheild, you get an additional three years of extended warranty, which means if anything happens to the TV under this warranty, if Courts cannot fix it, they will replace it with latest model.
Upgrade to better visuals, impressive sound, a bigger screen, or enhanced connectivity. There is no time like the present to elevate your TV viewing experience.
