Carlette DeLeon (r) author of the #JoysOfParenting shared a joyous moment with Tanya Batson-Savage owner of publishing house Blouse and Skirt Books an imprint of Blue Banyan Books during the launch of the book held on Saturday July 27 at the Hope Zoo Tree House.

Her Blouse & Skirt published book, which is now available for sale on Amazon, will be introduced to the Caribbean and book loving communities of the Bronx and Brooklyn through two exciting readings.

“I am so excited to share the #JoysOfParenting with moms and dads in North America. The experience is simultaneously unique and universal,” gushed the new author.

The first engagement, a literary lyme focused on ‘Image Consciousness: Repainting the Caribbean Imaginary’, will feature DeLeon’s adult picture book #JoysOfParenting, alongside The Dark of the Sea by Imam Baksh (Guyana); I Got This by Andrene Bonner (Jamaica); and The Carnival Prince by Daniel O’Brien (Trinidad). The lyme will take place in Room 31 Bartow Community Centre in the Bronx on Friday September 20, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

On Saturday September 21, 2019, Rum and Reasoning brings Caribbean authors, Imam Baksh (Guyana), Anton Nimblett (Trinidad), fellow Jamaican Olive Senior and DeLeon together for the one-night literary paradise at the South Oxford Space in Brooklyn starting at 7:30 pm.

Both New York events are jointly hosted by Caribbean Cultural Theater and Read Jamaica as Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend events.

“The Diaspora is an important part of the audience we write for and want to read to. It’s therefore great to have Carlette, whose dynamic and hilarious book is really a game changer for the kinds books coming out of Jamaica, as a part of these events where we get to meet and reason with our Caribbean people,” explained Blue Banyan Books publisher Tanya Batson-Savage. Blouse and Skirt Books is an imprint of Blue Banyan Books.

The book will also be launched in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada, at Parkdale United Church Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

The vibrant Caribbean community welcomes another gem from ‘yaad’ to the cultural landscape and showcase the strength of Caribbean storytelling.

“Carlette has delivered a book that will give comfort to inexperienced parents and help grandparents to remember their own #JoysOfParenting,” stated the Canada launch host Margaret Tucker.

“I was extremely excited when I heard that Carlette had published the #JoysOfParenting. So excited that I had to share it with my Ottawa community by having a Canadian book launch.”
